Acupuncture,
explained simply.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a traditional East Asian medicine practice that uses very fine needles at selected points. Treatment is individualized after a health history and Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment.

Are the needles sterile?

Yes. Treatment uses pre-sterilized, disposable, single-use acupuncture needles and follows Clean Needle Technique.

What might I feel?

Some people feel little at insertion; others notice brief sensitivity, tingling, warmth, heaviness, or a mild ache. Please tell your practitioner immediately if you are uncomfortable so treatment can be adjusted.

How long are needles retained?

Depending on the treatment plan, needles are commonly retained for approximately 20–40 minutes.

Exploring Shenxiang
Supportive Care

神香疗法

One future direction for Life & Favor is the responsible study and development of Shenxiang Therapy, inspired by Dr. Zhao Ruanjin’s “Shenxiang Warming and Unblocking Therapy” (神香温通疗法).

This traditional framework considers cold, stagnation, phlegm, and impaired circulation among the patterns that may accompany serious chronic illness. Any future clinic program would be developed conservatively, coordinated with the patient’s oncology team, and directed toward comfort, function, and quality of life—not toward replacing cancer treatment.

Background on the original framework ↗

Warm appropriately

Traditional pattern differentiation guides whether gentle warming methods are suitable. Heat is never applied over a tumor site or where medically contraindicated.

Support circulation

Acupuncture may be selected to address tension, pain, limited movement, or treatment-related discomfort within an individualized care plan.

Support the person

Visits may focus on nausea, fatigue, sleep, stress, appetite, neuropathy, and survivorship concerns, with realistic goals and ongoing reassessment.

Coordinate safely

We screen for low blood counts, infection risk, anticoagulants, lymphedema precautions, surgery, radiation fields, and possible herb–drug interactions.

A careful path from study to care.

  1. 1

Evidence and protocol reviewStudy the historical framework, available research, safety limits, and relevant professional standards.

  2. 2

Medical collaborationDevelop referral and communication procedures with oncology professionals before accepting appropriate patients.

  3. 3

Conservative pilot careIf introduced, begin with carefully selected supportive goals, documented consent, safety screening, and individualized treatment.

  4. 4

Measure and improveTrack symptoms, function, adverse events, and patient experience; revise or discontinue methods that do not demonstrate acceptable safety and value.

Make space for feeling better.
